The Second Amendment starts "A well regulated militia being necessary for the security of the state . . ." Today, that militia would be the national Guard. Ergo, if you want a gun, join the Guard. Take the training, go to the meetings and summer camp, submit to the watchful eye of a jerk of a sergeant.

The current crop of RW Supreme Court majority call themselves "Originalists" Then read the damn words printed on the paper.

We have lost the Supreme Court for many years into the future, unless the hands of fate step in to change its membership.

Since Obama's Presidency, McConnel has been stacking the court nominees with neo fascists who were hand picked by the Heritage Foundation and other equally anti democratic groups. (small d)

So, we've had a race between McConnel, Trump and mainly the Heritage Foundation scholars to see who could do more to destroy the Court, so the Court could do more to destroy democracy.

The AR 15 is a particularly nasty weapon of war. It's basically an M16 without the Automatic fire selector switch. The .223 cal. bullet is unstable in flight and can easily tumble so it impacts sideways instead of penetrating through and through.

It is absolutely horrifying that parents were asked to give DNA samples, I presume, to help identify bodies. I want Congress to have to look at the photos every day, of every body, as it was found.

What is equally horrifying is the conduct of the police who literally fought the parents to prevent them from entering the school while refusing to enter the school themselves. It would be the same as firefighters who showed up at a burning building and hearing screams of tormented people, waited outside until the building burned down and the screams ceased.

Let's not lose sight of the fact that this is a pattern of behavior for the cops. At Columbine, at Stoneman Douglas and Uvalde without looking too deeply. They've been taking the paycheck for years, now is when they don't want to earn it? They want us to understand their need for split-second decisions? No. They should have thought about this all the time in their patrol cars, in all the training. Every time they strap on a badge and a gun, they should think about the duty and responsibility that goes with that.

Firemen have earned my respect. When I lived off-base in Phoenix, there was a fire station just down the block. Every time they drove by with sirens on, all of us would go outside to the front yard and salute as they passed by.

In my opinion, some police forces are ill-trained. What happened to the term "peace officer?"

Some cops, like the ones in Uvalde, have demonstrated that they are physically and emotionally unfit to serve and it's getting worse every year.

The worst of them display fear, cowardice and hostility to the public, and in civil disputes, they are too quick to escalate situations that could be settled with intelligent de-escalation.

In the past year, 1100 un-armed Americans have been killed by police. When the police are called to a disturbance, the caller must be aware that they are calling guns to the scene that can be used against them.

I remember a sarcastic bumper sticker I saw when I (we) was a teenager. It said, "When you need help, try asking a hippie," with a badge at the end. I thought that was bullshit then, and still do.
